The below diagram is representative of our work to develop economic models of demand for drugs and other reinforcers. These concepts can help to shape better treatment approaches and more effective public policy to reduce substance abuse. These same concepts can be used to assist the pharmaceutical industry assess potential abuse liability during drug development.
